Holy crap today’s a good day.
My first short story in print, “Hybridae,” is now out in the September/October issue of the quarterly magazine the Willows. I’ve been privileged to see my name in print many times over my lifetime, but always in the non-fiction world of newspapers, magazines and such. I’ve even written once or twice for the stage. But seeing my name in print for a short story, well, there’s no words to describe how I feel.
What’s “Hybridae” about, you say?
Well, you can only find out when you read it, but it follows an American ex-patriate who relocates to Mexico City around the turn of the 21st century. And then there’s much to do with possible cosmological terror and ancient Aztec archeology. And when you read it, I encourage you to come back to this blog and post some comments.
So you say to yourself, “How do I get the magazine?”
Some Borders bookstores carry it, but since we live in the age of the Internet, and since magazine publishing does not work quite the way it used to in the old days, you are best off buying The Willows online. IT’S ONLY FIVE BUCKS. DO IT!
Purchase the Sept/October issue of The Willows, featuring “Hybridae,” by Cesar Torres, here.

I'm the author of "The 12 Burning Wheels," a short story collection of weird tales of future dystopias, hybrid monsters and machine lore.
Congratulations Cesar!
Time to CELEBRATE!!!
Woo Woo! Go Cesar! What a cool cover!
Nice work, Cesar! I’ve got to order a copy of this magazine — only 5 bucks!??!
It is indeed only five bucks, though shipping seems to cost just about as much as the issue itself. However, having read The Willows before, it is jam-packed, and replete with content. I do recommend it, especially if you like your spooky, weird tales dressed up in Victorian garb, snorting snuff and polished like brass.

Super-congratz! (Which is waaaaay better than a regular congratz, of course.)
