“Bikurishita!”

That phrase roughly translates to “I am surprised!” in Japanese. You pronounce it Bee-Koo-Ree-Shta!

That’s how I feel lately, lovers.

A few major happenings are settling in.

Firstly, my short story “Victoria,” part of the “12 Burning Wheels” cycle, will be featured in the science fiction magazine M-Brane SF.

Secondly, “The 12 Burning Wheels,” a set of 12 short stories, will also be published as a book by M Brane, run by editor Chris Fletcher. Pre-orders will begin soon. I am working on revisions and cover art madness right now and loving it.

Thirdly, I have a third writing project that will see the light of day, and though I can’t go into great detail on it yet, I can tell you that it does entail me writing several new short stories, and I am thrilled about it. I will be working hard on a thematic connections and many challenges in voice, point of view and form. You will see many themes that are familiar in my work, and some new ones. Get your gas masks ready.

“Rotnacht” is not quite on the backburner either. I know some of the stories in the new writing project will touch on some of the novels’ nodes, but more details on this later. I have a lot of writing to do now.

I never imagined I’d be writing this many short stories in 2009. I am very content.

Also, Gapers Block featured one of my foodie video clips in their Food section recently. Bikurishita!
